TITLE: Holiday Lectures on Science
CLIENT: Howard Hughes Medical Institute
PURPOSE: Science Education (Live Event Production)
Targeted to high school science students, the Holiday Lectures on
Science are presented each December as an educational program of the
Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Sutherland Media has produced this
annual four-part series for 14 consecutive years and is preparing for
its 15th annual production. Over the years, Sutherland Media has
provided a package of services to HHMI that includes marketing the
programs to teachers through direct mail and magazine placements;
working with the lecturers on presentation style and camera presence;
producing video inserts, graphics and 3-D animations; and on-site HD
multi-camera production and satellite uplinking of the programs. The
Lectures are also webcast live and can be viewed at

TITLE: Minority Inventors: America's Tapestry of Innovation
CLIENT: US Patent and Trademark Office
PURPOSE: Education
Every day our lives depend on the innovations and discoveries made by
scientists and inventors. This video tells the inspirational story of
minority inventors past and present - many of whom made their
contributions in the face of great adversity and with little in the way
of personal resources. Minority inventors have always been part of the
on-going story of invention in America, although their contributions
have not always received the recognition that they deserve. The
program is distributed to elementary and secondary schools nationwide.

TITLE: Women are Surgeons
CLIENT: National Institutes of Health
PURPOSE: Education
Women Are Surgeons is an educational documentary targeted to young women
from middle school through high school levels. It highlights the
careers and personal lives of three women surgeons and encourages
students who are interested in medical careers to make proper curriculum
choices early on. The program is introduced by Emmy Award-winning
actress Christine Lahti, star of the TV series Chicago Hope. The
program is in distribution to schools and educational TV stations
nationwide.

TITLE: Women are Pathologists
CLIENT: National Institutes of Health
PURPOSE: Education (Drama)
Women are Pathologists tells the fictional story of a young girl
who learns firsthand about the field of pathology as she tries to
resolve a family crisis. The program concludes with a short feature
about three real-life pathologists who give a short overview of the
career possibilities in pathology and the challenges and rewards of
their particular jobs. The program is introduced by award winning
actress Victoria Rowell, who played pathologist Dr. Amanda Bentley on
the CBS Television series
Diagnosis Murder.
